Casdagli Cigars Announces New Club Mareva Release: Spalato No. 2
Jeremy Casdagli is not only a great ambassador to the cigar culture, you’ll soon learn after sitting down and chatting with him that he’s also a well-versed historian. Just ask him about one of his idols, 19th century Napoleonic General and adventurer, Antoine Charles Louis de Lasalle. It is Casdagli’s love of history that inspired the Spalato name in his Club Mareva line. Spalato (“Spalatum” by the Romans) is what the Venetians called the modern Croatian town of Split, which also happens to be the current home to the cosmopolitan Club Mareva. Today, Casdagli Cigars announced the new Club Mareva Spalato No. 2 will be replacing the Spalato Ltd. Edition launched in 2017. The new releases will begin shipping to US tobacconists next week.
“As the original was such a hit with the blend working so well in the Pyramide format we decided toJeremy Casdagli, Founder Casdagli Cigars
determine the new blend by keeping the filler, binder and format unchanged and solely
experimenting with different wrapper leaves.”
The Club Mareva line is a unique quintet of cigars crafted to commemorate the partnership between Casdagli Cigars and Club Mareva, home of the Cigar Smoking World Championship (CSWC). The club was founded by Marko Bilić, a cigar lover recognized as one of the cigar world’s most prominent ambassadors. Originally launched in 2014, each cigar blend (created by Hendrik Kelner Jr) in the Club Mareva line is personally selected by Bilić. For more perspective, Jeremy Casdagli adds, “Marco has a very particular palate, his preference being for mild-medium strength, full flavour and aromatic blends that can be enjoyed throughout the day. The Mediterranean lifestyle one could say.”
