Cigar News: El Septimo Geneva S. A. Releasing Gilgamesh Collection

Following their most recent launch of the Alexandra Series, the first-ever cigar tailor-made for the female aficionado, El Septimo Geneva S.A. announced it’s newest addition to their portfolio; The Gilgamesh Collection. The new cigars are inspired by Gilgamesh, the historical Sumerian King who ruled around 2700 B.C. and was later posthumously deified. The Epic of Gilgamesh tells of the odysseys and exploits of Gilgamesh who is considered by historians as the hero of the ancient world.

Like future legends and heroic yarns inspired by Gilgamesh’s rule so too is El Septimo’s Cigars, “because as a brand in the premium cigar industry, El Septimo is known to inspire new products with groundbreaking ideas and research into growing and aging the best tobacco through precision farming, blending techniques, aging and rolling processes, and market research.”

The two new cigars are a departure for the Geneva-based outfit as they, for now, will only be available in a Toro-like vitola measuring 6″ with a 50 RG. Many aficionados of El Septimo Cigars know that the majority of their ring gauges are typically much larger, many greater than 60. The pricing of the cigars should also get fan’s attention as they are some of the least expensive in the El Septimo portfolio. Like it’s portfolio siblings, the new cigars are also Costa Rican puros bringing the El Septimo stable to a tally of 42 blends. Details of each cigar are below.

Profiles for the new cigars range from medium to full bodied and tobacco age, from 6 to 10 years. Zaya Younan, CEO of Younan Company and El Septimo, explains the intent and blend differences of the new  cigars saying, “Since acquiring El Septimo in early 2019, we have expanded the brand with new cigar offerings and U.S. distribution to make it easier to acquire our premium cigars.”

Younan further adds, “El Septimo is known for its larger gauge cigars due to the fact that each cigar is hand-assembled with many different tobacco leaves aged in different environments, providing exceptional flavors while engaging optimal aging and blending processes. Because our wrappers consist of 25-75% of the entire cigar’s flavor in our various collections, our bigger gauge cigars are known for providing an intense flavor due to the binder, tobacco filler, and wrapper ratio. However, due to the significant growth of the brand, we realized there was a market need for smaller gauge cigars so we concentrated on developing a new brand to satisfy this market.”

The cigars will be featured at this year’s PCA (formerly IPCPR) tradeshow this July in Las Vegas. Pre-orders are currently being accepted on El Septimo’s official website here.In Fumo Pax!
