Cigar News: La Aurora Launches Limited Preferidos Hors D’Age 2018 at IPCPR

For the second consecutive year, the longest-running Dominican factory, La Aurora, launches the limited-edition Preferidos Hors D’Age. Like the 2017 edition released last summer, this year the cigar will carry the 2018 badge. The Hors D’Age 2018 is crafted with vintage tobaccos and when added together with time in the aging room, total age is reportedly 12 years. Previously, the Hor’s D’Age 2017 spent 2 years in the aging room blended with tobaccos harvested in 2006.

The name, “Hors D’Age” is French for “beyond time” or “beyond age” and is a nod to the longer than usual aging period for cigars, but perhaps also a tip of the cap to one of the highest quality cognacs on the planet, Hors d’âge Cognac. Like the 2017 edition, Hors D’Age 2018 will feature Ecuadorian wrapper and binder tobaccos cloaking filler leaves from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Colombia.

The 2017 edition was available in 5 vitolas and included a limited-edition 146-count cigar humidor. Reportedly, the 2018 cigars will be available in two vitolas: 6″x 54 Toro and Gran Toro, the size of which is not currently available. Toros will be shipped in 15-count boxes in August and the Gran Toros will be offered in 30-count jars beginning in October of this year. – In Fumo Pax!
