Bite Size Review: La Flor Dominicana ‘M’ (TCFKA ‘M’)
This is the cigar that finally connected all the dots for me. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t just wake up one morning, light this baby up and BAM!, had this whole cigar mojo thing figured out. No, there were other influences, but they all did seem to converge at just the right time. I’m extremely happy they did. Officially, this cigar started life with the designation “Mysterio” but legal issues forced LFD to rename it simply as The Cigar Formerly Known as M or “TCFKA M”. This perfecto is something LFD has been mastering for some time. You may have seen this and similar blends in a variety of wrapper configurations, including the barber pole wrapper incorporating Connecticut and maduro wrapper designs – very cool. These sticks also feature a pigtail on the head, but you’ll want a good cut so the head doesn’t get too shaggy.

These beauties are difficult to find, particularly in singles. You’ll just have to buy a box of 5! Great aroma from the broadleaf wrapper and sweetness from the foot. Solid construction and tight from head to foot. The first few inhales offer a whoosh of nuts, oats and hints of coffee with a light spicy finish. Delicious and nicely balanced, she settles into a smooth marathon of toastiness. Some consider this a full-bodied lady, but I would characterize it as medium to medium-full. Take your time with this one and she’ll reward you with a nice even burn and keep you busy for at least 45 minutes to an hour. This would be a perfect morning or brunch smoke that would complement coffee and beignets. – In Fumo Pax!
